Inspired by ancient Rome, its winemaking techniques in clay pots, traditions and plays, we will create a carnival mask inspired by Roman theatre through clay!
After learning about the process of “Vinho de Talha” – the technique of making wine in clay pots left by the Romans over 2000 years ago – and how this nectar of the gods is still made in the Alentejo, we’ll travel back to ancient Rome.
We challenge families to create their own clay mask, inspired by the Roman masks used in theatre plays in the 1st century BC.
Around the 1st century BC, theatre in Ancient Rome was a diverse artistic form, ranging from street theatre and acrobatics at festivals to the staging of comedies by Roman playwrights, religious performances of a serious or satirical nature.
In Latin, Persona is the word for mask. Unlike today, where the mask has the role of concealing identity, at the time the mask was simply the object through which the actor personified his character.
When it came to painting and portraiture, the Romans were more realistic than the Greeks. They created detailed reproductions of faces. These masks represented generic types: young people, adult men, women, gods or kings.
Borba’s Interactive Museum House is hosting the 3rd edition of “Pinceladas de Vinho”, which will take place in Borba on 9 March.
In partnership with USkBadajoz and USkCáceres, the Urban Sketching event promises to immerse you in the incomparable wine-growing atmosphere that Borba preserves.
The programme includes sketching around the Casa-Museu de Vinho de Talha and the town, followed by lunch in the winery with typical cuisine and Alentejo Traditional Choir.

This Christmas, the Casa Museu Interativa de Borba invites all children and young people between the ages of 5 and 14 to take part in the holiday programme prepared for the month of December.
The Casa Museu Interativa de Borba opens its cellar doors and invites you to a Fado Night with friends, wine and snacks! We welcomed Carlos Arvanas, Rute Sousa, José Geadas on viola and António Barros on Portuguese guitar.
On the 29th of October at 21:00, we will have an evening full of history, music and wine! We received the historian José Calado, Gisélia and David Ferreira. Registration is mandatory!
On the 3rd of September, at 8:30 pm, the Casa Museu Interativa de Borba presents a concert with Bootleg. Let’s make this one more memorable night for our Museum.
On the 15th of July, at 9:30 pm, the Casa Museu Interativa de Borba will host the 3rd event “Wine with History and Singing – Monte Alentejano: experiences, memories and knowledge”. We will have José Calado as a guest historian. In the evening we will have music with Sérgio Ramos on voice and David Ferreira on guitar.
On the 9th of July, the Casa Museu Interativa de Borba will promote another event with a Historical Tour: Fazer as 11 with History.
The Battle of Montes Claros and the Roosters of Cardinal Richelieu, are the script proposals in Sidecar with the partnership of Moma Side my Bike, which will culminate in the Casa Museu Interativa de Borba with Lecture and Snack.
